School Library
We are very lucky at Marnel Junior School to have a fantastic Library, which is an amazing resource for the children. We work very closely with the Hampshire School Library service and they are very knowledgeable about children’s literature and is able to recommend books to children and parents, they also check our stock and regularly change our books so there are always fresh texts and new authors to discover.
Every year group has a session in the library once a week where teachers will read to the children and then help them choose a book to take home. The children all enjoy exploring the books and love spending time exploring and sharing their recommendations.
Every child has one library book linked to their ZPD (Accelerated reader) and one reading book for pleasure. As a school, we want to promote the love of books and the love of reading and we encourage the children to change their library books whenever they are ready.
We have two dedicated librarians and a team of pupil librarians who run the library for our school.
We ask parents to share their child’s library books with them and to help their child remember to bring their library book back on library changing day. We ask the children to respect their library books and remember that another person will want to read the book after them.
